A circular and sustainable alternative for road construction – regenerating our cities
What is circular economy, and how does GIND fit in?
Circular economy is about using resources in a smarter way, so that materials and products remain in use for as long as possible. The goal is to reduce waste and environmental impact by designing products that can be reused, repaired and recycled. In a circular economy, waste is transformed into a resource, creating a more sustainable system that supports both the economy and the environment.
GIND’s solutions are a perfect example of circular economy in practice. BIO-DILE grout is made from recycled, sun-dried stone aggregates and bio-based binders derived from cashew nut shells and natural asphalt. When the material has reached the end of its life (which is long), it can be completely recycled into asphalt – thus contributing to a closed loop without waste.
How do GIND's solutions regenerate our cities?
Cities face enormous challenges, such as infrastructure deterioration, climate change. GIND's innovative products help regenerate cities by:
Extend the lifespan of infrastructure: Natural stone, which can last over 100 years, becomes a more sustainable alternative to asphalt, significantly reducing resource use and maintenance costs.
Manage stormwater: Permeable pavements allow rainwater to infiltrate the ground, reducing flood risk and relieving drainage systems.
Reduce CO2 emissions: By using recycled and bio-based materials, the emissions associated with traditional cement and asphalt production are cut.
A greener future for cities and public spaces
GIND's solutions support the transition to a more sustainable and circular future. With a focus on durability and environmental considerations, the company enables smarter building. At the same time, it creates economic benefits, as maintenance and replacement become less frequent and costly.
With GIND, cities can become more resilient, climate-friendly and regenerative – for the benefit of both current and future generations.
About us
GIND is a Norwegian developer and manufacturer of innovative building products for urban floors, parks and infrastructure. As a spin-off company from the University of Stavanger, we are rooted in research and sustainable development.
Our goal is to provide high-quality solutions and promote innovation in urban development projects. We facilitate frugal consumption and repairability, so that we can preserve the ecosystem and develop cities that are more land-efficient. Our products help the construction industry achieve its climate goals.
Our vision of the cities of the future – beautiful, environmentally friendly and safe. At GIND, we see the opportunities in the challenges, and we work to create ideal spaces for all generations.
GIND was founded based on the work of engineer John C. Grønli and engineer Siri G. Grønli. The development of the building material took place between 2006-2011, John who was the inventor later received a patent for the building material. Siri founded Grønli Industrier in 2020, which later became GIND. As a family business, they have built up a production of innovative sealants to meet the needs of today and the future. And today they have several employees.

Biogenic binders
BIO-DILE is a product made from biogenic binders that have a negative CO2 footprint. GIND repurposes recycled materials into high-quality grouting solutions. By using BIO DILE, the environmental impact of construction is significantly reduced.

Reduce emissions
GIND always offers products with as short-distance recycled masses as possible.
Reduced maintenance requirements
The durable properties of DILE joint fillers mean that sealed structures and surfaces require less maintenance over time. Reduced maintenance not only saves resources, but also lowers the environmental impact associated with ongoing repair and maintenance activities.
Longevity
DILE joint filler, which is a high-quality joint-filler, has been developed for long duration. When used in construction projects, it can help extend the life of structures and surfaces. This long life reduces the need for frequent repairs or replacements, thus minimizing the consumption of materials and waste.
Management of storm water
Water does not penetrate through DILE Joint filler. That's why we design our drainage solutions to allow water to flow naturally.
